Here’s something I received in the mail yesterday. You may remember Jackie & James’s engagement pictures from a month or so ago.

I share this for a few reasons:

It’s always great to get feedback like this. It lets me know that I’m doing something right, that I made my clients happy.
Jackie & James had never had professional portraits taken before. Understandably, they didn’t know what to expect. But that’s fine! I work really hard to put my clients at ease, involve them in the process, and make things fun for everyone. It makes all the difference in the final images!
I have to say “thank you” to Jackie & James for mentioning the quality of the prints and albums. I work very hard at making sure the products I deliver are of the highest quality, and it’s gratifying to hear others agree with me.

So thank you, J&J, for your note. It made my day.

class of 2012 senior models needed

Photographing high school seniors has always been one of my favorite parts of what I do. Your senior year is one that needs to be remembered, and I work hard to help seniors do that though images. And while I’ve been shooting these sessions for years, I’d like to shoot a lot more of them. So today I’m happy to say that Ryan Estes Seniors is live, and full of images and info on capturing this amazing time in your life.

my field trip

This one goes out to the students in Mr. Jurina‘s advanced photography class at Hershey Christian School. I spent Tuesday with them talking about life and business in photography, having lunch, doing some Q&A, and doing a little shooting and messing around with lighting. Thank you all for welcoming me — I had a great time getting to know you.

A few snapshots from the day. Some of these I took, others magically appeared on my memory card as my camera got passed around…

A few from the afternoon… What fun… hope I get to do it again sometime!

My father will likely not be happy with this post, for the simple fact that I’m posting about the holidays before Halloween has even arrived, but it’s out of necessity (sorry dad). I’m happy to announce this year’s holiday print sale!

All expired galleries from 2009 have been reactivated. And between now and November 30, all prints are 20% off!

Also, remember that we also have holiday cards available, chock full of your favorite images and lovingly and professionally printed on gorgeous fine art linen paper! To order, simply log in to your gallery, choose an image, and click on the “products” tab.

josephine + pj’s wedding featured in brides philadelphia

A few months ago, Brides Philadelphia magazine emailed to ask if I had images from any weddings in unusual/unique venues… Jo & PJ’s wedding at the World Cafe Live was an obvious choice. Jo was excited too, and her parents told me they went to 5 different bookstores looking for a copy of the Fall/Winter 2009 issue. It just hit the newsstands, and the layout looks great!

I was also pleased to see that one more image made their “The Moment” section, just inside the back cover…

We’re moving! Don’t worry, we’re not going far, but we finally got around to actually buying a house (finally, one that has a good space for Ryan Estes Photography). For our clients, this won’t change a thing except for a new address and phone number, effective as of Monday, July 20:
