Philadelphia Family, Child, Newborn and Senior Photographer Ryan Estes bio picture
  • Welcome to the blog of Ryan Estes Photography. I live and work in the greater Philadelphia area providing families, kids, babies and seniors with cutting-edge photography. Here you'll find the latest images, news, and bits of this and that. Come back often -- there's a lot happening, both in my life and in the lives of my clients.

Often I'll post pictures I've taken for fun... whether they're shots of my daughter, trips we've taken, or simply interesting/fun/bizarre/crazy/cool stuff from everyday life. Why? Because photography is intensely personal... in your search for the right photographer, you should connect as well with the person as you do with the images. This is who I am... I hope you enjoy.

philadelphia family portraits | the davis family

Another fun morning family shoot.  As much as I love the warm light we get when shooting in the late afternoon, there’s something about morning light that’s just… different, and wonderful.  These three were so photogenic, it made my job easy.  Find the light, let them hang out and laugh together, and BAM!  There’s the image.

genna + michael

Genna & Michael were married about a year ago.  Although I wasn’t the photographer to shoot their wedding, Genna contacted me to ask about a bridal session to get some pictures that they weren’t able to get on their wedding day, sort of a celebration for their 1-year anniversary.  So a few weeks ago I met them at their family’s beach house in Brigantine, NJ to take these portraits.

I’m not a “beach photographer” per se… I live northwest of Philadelphia, and most of my shoots are either in Philly or in Chester, Montgomery, or Bucks counties.  But this year for some reason I’ve been shooting a lot at the shore, and I’m not complaining!  October at the beach feels pretty good.

We also headed over to Atlantic City for the last part of the day.  Here are some of my favorites.

cape may family & maternity portraits | the sebastian family

There is so much I could say about this session… Tiffany and Rob were some of my favorite wedding clients of 2010.  Their wedding at Congress Hall in Cape May was absolutely beautiful, and was even featured on Style Me Pretty.  Tiffany contacted me a few months ago to see if I could take some pictures of her family when they were back in Cape May on vacation this fall, and so in early October I drove down to spend a few hours with them.

Such a great shoot, with wonderful people, and killer skies!

christmas cards now available

Every year I have the best intentions of sending out Christmas cards.  Sometimes I succeed.  Other years I find myself suddenly looking at the calendar, realizing that I have exactly 6 hours to finish shopping.

Our mailbox teems with Christmas cards.  Lovely cards, with pictures of growing families and heartwarming notes.  I hope our friends realize that we still love them, even though one more year went by without a card from the Estes family.

Not this year, though!  I’ve got beautiful cards to send out, with those pictures of our growing family (thanks to Joy Moody for that shot on the front!), and I’m happy to say that my clients can get the same gorgeous product, starting now.

These 5×7″ cards are printed on beautiful fine art watercolor paper, include envelopes, and can be customized to be exactly what you and your family want, including your favorite images from your portrait session or wedding.  They’re available in packs of 25 for $125.

Call me today to order yours!  There are 12 different designs available.  Click below to view all 12 after the jump!

main line family portraits | the “z” family

It has been one crazy — yet spectacular — autumn.  I’ve had the opportunity to meet and photograph a ton of new and wonderful clients, and this family is no exception.

This shoot was a great time.  I was tuckered out by the end, as kids tend to have more energy than a Red Bull factory, and it’s usually a matter of just trying to keep up and be in the right place at the right time.  Awesome.

pennsylvania newborn photographer | baby “a”

I sometimes struggle to come up with new things to write when I post pictures I’ve taken of my clients.  How many times can you use the phrase “miracle of life” or “simply adorable”?  But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, the truth is that new babies are pretty incredible.  They have eyeballs.  Eyeballs.  And tiny hands and fingers and ears and feet and hair, sometimes lots and lots of hair, like this tiny scoop of awesome that is baby “A.”

I got to photograph her when she was just a few days old.  Here are some of my favorite pictures from that session.

philadelphia children’s photographer | the “w” kids

These kids were all kinds of fun.  Quick with a smile, ready to run around and goof off, just… happy.  I met up with them (and their parents) at Ridley Creek State Park a few weeks ago.  It was a great shoot, and that was confirmed when their parents emailed me a few days later saying that the kids had a blast as well.  That made my day!
