new years eve wedding | allie + scott

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I’ll admit… most New Years Eves I find myself on the couch next to Kelly and perhaps a small group of close friends. The ball drops, we all cheer, we all neglect to make any resolutions, and another year begins. This year was different… Scott & Allie tied the knot and threw a thumpin’ party at Belle Voir Manor, and I was glad for the chance to be there and capture it all!

Scott & Allie were a pleasure to work with… the snow didn’t deter them from pictures on the banks of the Delaware River, and I felt like part of the family. As usual, I got to work alongside of some great people… huge thanks goes out to Jen Thomas of Bud to Blossom Events… Jen is Allie’s sister-in-law, so thank you Jen for pointing Allie in my direction when she was looking for a photographer!

Brittany and her team from Petals Lane did a gorgeous job (as always), and Synergetic Sounds took care of the lighting and made the room look awesome. CTO Park Avenue made it a night to remember, and once again I need to thank Mark Gardner for coming along and 2nd shooting for me. Mark delivered fantastic images, as usual, and a couple of the shots below are from him.

Ok! On to the pictures…

Here’s one Mark took… love it!

I made a great guestbook for Allie & Scott with pictures from their engagement session!

I really like getting parents’ reactions during toasts.

And what’s a New Years Eve party without the Mummers?

Allie & Scott: Happy New Year and all the best in your new life together!

ritz carlton philadelphia | molly + ben

Tuesday, July 7th, 2009

June 27 found me back in Philadelphia at the Ritz Carlton for Molly and Ben’s wedding.  It was a beautiful, sunny, cool, and emotion-packed day, and I was happy to be a part of it.

Molly & Ben put a lot of thought into how the day was going to flow… because they waited until sundown for the ceremony, they opted to see each other ahead of time in order to take pictures beforehand.

Love the look on Molly’s mom’s face as when she walked into the room where Molly was getting ready!

Like I said, emotion-packed.  :)

The flowers by Carl Alan Floral Designs were gorgeous.

Molly and Ben headed outside to take advantage of the Ritz’s Center City location.

I think this one is my favorite of the day.

Thanks to Erik Matey who joined me for the day!  This shot was his idea…

You may have noticed that the shot below is poorly composed and altogether technically imperfect… but a moment is a moment and that’s what counts!

Last-minute touchups with whatever mirror happens to be available!

And then it was off to the Ketubah ceremony.

Molly’s mom and sister walked her down the aisle.

This one had people smiling… Molly didn’t even wait for her sister to finish the toast before she got up to hug her!

A lotta love in the room…

Brides and grooms: want to make sure the dance floor is packed at your wedding?  Here’s the key… if YOU hit the dance floor, so will your guests!

Molly and Ben, thank you again for trusting us with your day!

the downtown club | judith + danny

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Whew!  I love city weddings, I love shooting in the rain (for the most part), I love working with fantastic couples and families… so Judith & Danny’s wedding at the Downtown Club was just a great time all-around.  Lots of pictures to show, so let me simply say “thank you” to…

Nicole Polk for shooting with me and working like crazy all day
Carl Alan for the amazing floral designs
Mary, Greg, and the rest of the staff at the Downtown Club for making the day come off without a hitch
Janis Nowlan and her band for keeping the dance floor hopping
And most of all to Judith & Danny and their families for being incredibly welcoming and fun!

I love these two… on the left, Judith is waiting to see Danny for the first time.

Danny was one of the coolest grooms I’ve had the pleasure of working with.

I love this one too… it’s not a perfect picture by any means, but Judith’s joy is obvious, and these captures are what make me want to keep taking pictures.

The rain held off for a while, but it started coming down in buckets right around this time.  No worries, that’s why we carry white umbrellas.

Signing the ketubah.

Judith’s mom made the chuppah herself.

The Downtown Club is a really cool space.

One of the things I love about Jewish weddings is the horah.  I usually almost get killed shooting these dances and this wedding was no exception, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.  The energy in the room is fantastic, and when they start hoisting people up on chairs… anyway, I may have gone overboard by posting so many photos of this…
