loews philadelphia wedding | rubina + garo

Monday, March 8th, 2010

The last wedding of the season, and it was one to remember! You may recognize Rubina & Garo from their engagement photos last fall. Their wedding was a jam-packed day full of family, friends, dancing, eating, and Armenian wedding traditions. It was mayhem, in the best possible sense of the word… I love photographing weddings that have so many cultural elements!

Mark Gardner joined me once again … I was glad he was there, as there was simply so much going on it would have been difficult impossible for just one shooter to capture it all. Thanks Mark!

First Floor Films was also there doing the video, and Beautiful Blooms took care of the *stunning* florals. What a fantastic team to work with!

As usual, we started out as Rubina & Garo were getting ready.

An Armenian tradition… Garo had to pay to get Rubina out of the building. Mark snagged this shot below…

Oh, and did I mention it was cold enough to make a penguin beg for mercy? It was… but this couple went out for photos anyway. (Kudos, guys.)

And then back to the Loews Hotel for the reception. The 33rd floor is a great place to hold the cocktail hour.

When their band was unable to make it, R&G’s friends stepped in last minute and did a marvelous job.

Once again, Rubina & Garo… thanks for including us in your wonderful day!

new years eve wedding | allie + scott

Tuesday, March 2nd, 2010

I’ll admit… most New Years Eves I find myself on the couch next to Kelly and perhaps a small group of close friends. The ball drops, we all cheer, we all neglect to make any resolutions, and another year begins. This year was different… Scott & Allie tied the knot and threw a thumpin’ party at Belle Voir Manor, and I was glad for the chance to be there and capture it all!

Scott & Allie were a pleasure to work with… the snow didn’t deter them from pictures on the banks of the Delaware River, and I felt like part of the family. As usual, I got to work alongside of some great people… huge thanks goes out to Jen Thomas of Bud to Blossom Events… Jen is Allie’s sister-in-law, so thank you Jen for pointing Allie in my direction when she was looking for a photographer!

Brittany and her team from Petals Lane did a gorgeous job (as always), and Synergetic Sounds took care of the lighting and made the room look awesome. CTO Park Avenue made it a night to remember, and once again I need to thank Mark Gardner for coming along and 2nd shooting for me. Mark delivered fantastic images, as usual, and a couple of the shots below are from him.

Ok! On to the pictures…

Here’s one Mark took… love it!

I made a great guestbook for Allie & Scott with pictures from their engagement session!

I really like getting parents’ reactions during toasts.

And what’s a New Years Eve party without the Mummers?

Allie & Scott: Happy New Year and all the best in your new life together!

riverdale manor wedding | keely + greg

Monday, February 15th, 2010

Keely and Greg had initially set their wedding date as December 19, 2009… but for those of you who live in the northeast, you may remember that as the first blizzard this winter threw at us. I woke up that morning to the phone ringing… it was Keely, and she said they were considering postponing the wedding until the following day, would I be available then instead? Turns out I was! Not only that, but EVERY ONE of the people she had hired for her wedding — the venue, the florist, the DJ, everyone — was able to work on the 20th instead. So instead of slogging through a dangerous storm, they had beautiful sun on their wedding day!

A huge thanks to Ole at PhotolĂ© for answering the call and stepping up to 2nd shoot for me with only one day’s notice! As usual, I included a few of his pictures below as well.

We began the day in Schaefferstown where Greg grew up. Greg and Keely wanted to take pictures around town since it’s such a meaningful place to them.

Also, we came away with so many pictures I loved from this day… I tried to whittle it down but this post is still a bit long. *shrug*

The local watering hole… K&G are here from time to time, so of course we had to stop in for a few photos…

I love this photo for some reason… “Let’s go get hitched!”

Keely’s mom… love getting these moments.

Look at the light in this church!

After the ceremony, everyone went over to Riverdale Manor for the reception. I loved shooting here in the winter… the snow really gave the place a great feel!

It was Keely’s father’s birthday.

And yes, if/when my own daughter gets married, I’ll probably be doing the same thing.

Keely and Greg, I can’t tell you enough how much I appreciate you both… thank you for an amazing day!
